All I can say is that we are so blessed. This year Stacy and Scott offered us their beach house, for free, for the week. It is hard to pass up an offer like that. They had to be in trial for the month of August so, lucky for us, it was going to be sitting vacant. So we packed up and headed to Seabrook Island, South Carolina. Since our trip to Hilton Head last year (Sea Pines, which I kept confusing with Seabrook), we have become huge fans of our low country beach trips. Something about the palm trees and moss, and Charleston style grandeur, I’m just a sucker for.
Seakbrook is beautiful – much more residential than other places we have stayed and Stacy and Scott’s place is grand. Its an impressive three stories, with its own pool – the kids definitely would have moved in and never come home. They each had their own room, although they spent most nights in the same room. Connor was thrilled with the wrap around porch (he has some thing about porches these days) and Cailee loved the fact that she had a “couch” (chair and half but couch-size for her) in her room. Apparently it doesn’t get more luxurious than this.
Day one, we headed down to the beach club to check things out and then decided to head farther down the beach to sunbathe/enjoy the ocean. We got there and basically had the beach to ourselves, it was incredible, albeit a little too desolate. The kids had a blast collecting shells, running in the water, building (and trampling) sand castles. The nice thing was that JJ and I could sit and still see the kids whereever they were without losing them in the masses, as we did at Hilton Head.
We capped it off with dinner at a local restaurant, a walk by the marina and grocery shopping to stock up for the week.
