Every year we hope for wintry weather when we make our annual trip to the mountains to get our Christmas tree – this year we might have gotten a little bit more than we bargained for. Earlier this week it the forecast called for highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s – somewhere along the way it switched to snow all weekend, high in the 20s, 10-20mph winds and lows in the teens. That’s cold even for a former yankee. The one advantage of the overly frozen and snowy ground was that it wasn’t muddy at the tree farm – just snowy and cold – I think we picked out our tree in record time.

And for those of you expecting a Christmas card with our annual family portrait in front of the trees – the pics below might be the closest you get – it was too cold to even want to pose for a picture. And I felt like a jerk asking the farm helpers to take off their gloves while we got the perfect pose so not sure these are card worthy but we were able to prove we made the trip for our ninth year in a road and staying warm was key this year.
