Ok, this will be it for the dance pictures for at least a few months, I promise. We’d survived two competitions so far so when the end of the year recital came around, which was completely new territory for me last year, this time around, I felt like I was an old pro.

And speaking of nostalgia (read my last post), for some reason I get all weepy inside at these recitals, something about knowing that this will be the last time I’ll see Cailee this little, dancing her way across the stage.

If I am being honest, all year long, I’ve been fighting my perfectionist side, wanting Cailee to nail every move just so (even tough she was the youngest in her class and had you asked me to do it, there’d be no chance), but when I saw the younger class that Cailee was in last year perform at the recital and compared that to her performance this year – what a remarkable improvement she’s made.

At this recital, she also performed a little gymnastic routine. I was so proud to see her in the middle of the class leading the routine. What a big, smart, athletic young girl she is becoming, I can hardly contain my pride, really truly. People must get amused watching me, watching her – I know I have the biggest, silliest grin all over my face.

Yes, I’ll admit it. This is Cailee’s dance mom, already looking forward to next year.
