Happy 4th Birthday Connor

We are spreading Connor’s birthday out this year. So I think that gives me some leeway for not posting this entry directly on his birthday – right? His actual birthday was this past Monday, a day after Easter. We opted to move his party to this upcoming weekend because we didn’t think Easter having it Easter weekend would be too accommodating – turns out the weekend after isn’t either but maybe intimate will turn out to be less crazy. On top of that – it was supposed to rain all this week – which it has done a lot but as late night storms – but fearing an inside, rainy week – we gave him his big gift – a motorized tractor a day early so he was able to play with it. So Connor has gotten to celebrate his birthday all week long – with the party still to come. Lucky fella!

For his birthday we got him the tractor, a mack truck, and a monster truck collection. He has been super into monster trucks here of late. He has all his monster trucks lined up on the floor of his room – you can’t touch them – and he runs – complete with all the right sounds – monster truck shows. He loves for JJ or I to be the “kid” aka spectator who gets super excited about the tricks his monster trucks are doing. He’s even molded junk cars for the trucks to crush out of aluminum foil (pretty ingenious, if you ask me). He also got spiderman shoes. Typically, I would avoid getting anything with characters on them – especially shoes – that light up, to boot, but the story was too cute. He told me one day, out of the blue, he wanted them – so I looked them up on Amazon and there are a lot of “spiderman shoes” but he was very definitive about the pair he picked out. I ordered them and in the meantime, went to his school and realized his best buddy Sam had them too, to make it funnier, upon talking to Sam’s mom, I learned that Sam wanted them because Nicholas had them – so apparently this is a fad running through their class. Funny, that the pressure to stay up with the latest kids’ fashion is coming from my 4 year old BOY. Cailee could have, and still doesn’t care at all, it seems. We have now worn the spiderman shoes EVERY day.
