I don’t know why it is but my kids always seem to be drawn to costumes that couldn’t be more opposite (last year: Angel and Dinosaur), I guess it reflects there personalities. This year was no different, we had Darth Vadar and a Unicorn. Connor has wanted to be Darth Vadar for quite some time even though he’s not altogether familiar with the Star Wars movies. I’m not sure he’s even seen one (or maybe just parts of one), but the characters must fascinate him (is it just this way with all boys?). And Cailee as a unicorn, well that’s not surprise, except maybe that it wasn’t a pig. Unicorns are all the craze and they are certainly all her craze right now. The kids make several appearances in their costumes, between two churches, school and just around the neighborhood. We tried to spray cailee’s hair rainbow colors but after a while it just got really gunky (is that a word?). It was pretty much layered on hairspray. Connor had a cape that was far too long for him, and in the dark it often got stepped on and ripped off (it was just velcro). A few times we had to hunt it down – which wasn’t always easy (for instance at the Little River Park Halloween Haunt – JJ finally found it by flashlight in the open field). As usual the kids got quite the haul – and believe it or not – they get really excited with getting as much candy as possible but most of it tends to go uneaten when all is said and done. I guess I shouldn’t complain about that.

Earlier in the day, Connor had the cutest party at school – thank goodness for a class parent that really goes all out – I just have to show up and take cute pictures. They painted a pumpkin, a messy activity, but Connor had a clear intent – he was trying to decorate the pumpkin like Micky Mouse, his teacher’s favorite character. I swear that kid is always thinking of others, he’s so sweet like that.
