Nothing like a little horse play to beat the heat (well not really, but I enjoyed some of the other activities because it gave us a bit of a reprieve from baking in the sun at the beach – but it certainly didn’t get us away from the humidity, they claimed this week was the hottest week they had all summer – yeah us!)

There was a stable and the kids both went on a pony ride. I daresay this is the first pony ride for Connor and even though his face certainly doesn’t tell you that – he was enjoying it – the kid just goes into this stoic, you can’t make me smile or break my concentration mode whenever he’s on a ride (and apparently that doesn’t just apply to amusement park rides). It’s like this tough guy demeanor that he puts on, and then does everything he can to ignore the crazy ninnies, his parents, doing everything they can to make him crack a smile, pose for a picture, acknowledge their presence.

There was a great playground, although all they wanted to do was the seesaw, I guess because it’s such a rarity these days, we’re not even sure how Connor knew what to do – but he rocked it like a champ.

And we climbed (all but Connor, who road) the 114 steps to the top of the Harbor Town Lighthouse.
