The kiddos almost didn’t have their spring fieldtrip this year. At 5 AM that morning there were tornado warnings, and morning news promised sweeping thunderstorms across the area all morning, but apparently the threat of deadly swirling funnels and rampant thunder and lightning will not keep us away from the museum of life and science. Luckily there is are plenty of indoor activities and when we were outside, we only dodged/ran through one rain shower (and I’m thinking the kids actually enjoyed it).

Not because I planned appropriately, but more just because of sheer coincidence, the kids both were wearing hooded jackets/shirts. Those came in quite handy in the rain and turns out in the butteryfly room. For some reason, in recent weeks, Connor has become freaked out by bugs and creepy crawly things, this apparently applies to butterflies. So here we are, a little overdressed for the weather, in a room where the heat is already amped up and Connor insisted on pulling his hood over his head and face to hide from the butterflies. If it wasn’t a little disturbing, I would have considered it hilarious. Poor guy was really freaked out. I hope this is temporary.

That aside, I had been really worried about Cailee and Connor both wanting to do their own thing and me struggling to keep up with two kids going in opposite directions, but they actually hung together quite well. Those two are really becoming great friends and I love seeing it. Last night Cailee informed me she was lonely before Connor was here. And as much as I get upset when the two of them sneak into each other’s room at night – it’s crazy cute how they connive/conspire together (for now).
