In a throw back to the good old days – JJ and I returned to Oriental, NC with Cailee in tow to attend the Croaker Festival – the 30th Annual nonetheless. Well before Cailee was even a fleeting thought, JJ and I spent many weekends (while dating) on his parent’s sailboat in Oriental – a community well known for its sailing community.

We decided to break up the drive into two days – just to ease the amount of time in the car – so we headed to New Bern Friday night and then got up early to drive the final 30 miles to Oriental – just in time for the Independence Day parade – I have to admit – its one of the best – and by far one of the most comical. This town really pulls out all the stops – and who can argue a $1 sno cone?

We couldn’t complain about the weather either – mid 80s and low humidity. Although the trip was short – It couldn’t have been nicer.
