This time of year the only real excitement we have is Cailee’s gymnastics meetings. Its kinda nice, a trip to look forward to, a great destination and honestly, I love watching her compete. This is the second year we’ve gone to Hilton Head and while its still generally cold this time of year – its traditionally supposed to be warmer than it is back home. Not this weekend – it was brutal. We didn’t even venture out onto the beach, where last year we were collecting sand dollars in our bare feet and just a sweatshirt. The cool air coupled with the breeze off the ocean made it far too chilly. But we still made for a weekend of it – we headed down Thursday, she competed Friday around 4ish and then we just hung out, goofed around with her teammates, and watched a lot of gymnastics til Sunday.

This was Cailee’s second meet of the season since they competed in Richmond late last year – that was good because it got some of the first meet jitters out of the way. She had a really good meet, getting 8.9 on vault, 9.550 on bars, 9.475 on beam, and 9.375 on floor, finishing 1st on beam and 2nd overall – which was great because this meet attracts high caliber gymnasts from across the Southeast and she started off the year 5th overall last year. So all in all, she was pretty excited about that finish – apparently top 3 is her unspoken goal this year. We celebrated with a team pizza dinner and she ended up having a sleep over with her close friend Emma. Score one for momma – I got the bed to myself one night.

By the way – this is where the “need” for hover boards started – Both Emma and Ella were sporting their new hover boards, and using it as their primary mode of transportation around the hotel and while Cailee’s interested had been piqued by Grayson’s, seeing her two girlfriends wheel around brought the begging to an all new level.
