Finally, all the cold really amounted to something.  Once again, the weatherman got this one wrong, its was supposed to be a non-event which turned into quite a bit of snow and given the colder temperatures it hung around for a while.  I think, all told, our little pocket of North Durham county got about 9 inches, the most in the Triangle area. Luckily, I’d had the fortitude this time to get some cheap sleds at Target ahead of time (cheap = they broke before the snow melted) but the kids had fun tromping back and forth between houses and sledding down driveways.

For me, it was COLD.  I have no idea how they can roll in the snow, have snowball fights where it gets all in their clothes and soaks their gloves without being miserable but I do love to see them enjoying it so much (either that, or it was the few days off of school that had them so happy).

Since I’m writing this several months after it occurred, I asked Cailee and Connor what they remembered from their snowy school days they said:

  • Grayson missed his spelling bee – it had to be rescheduled
  • They missed a lot of school.
  • They had a blast sledding with their friends (and tackling them in the snow)
